My card for this week was made using the clock mask available from Suzicraft this time i just used it as a template and drew around it, then coating it with glossy accents, lots of inking and stamping and a little stickles. full details are over on the SplodgeAway blog

A Mammoth Task

Whoa......... where did the time go?

I cant believe how little I've blogged the last couple of weeks, the reason behind that is I've had a lot going on, I've been teaching a class at suzicraft so i had some prep to do, and this Saturday i have a demo day at suzicraft so again i have been prepping for that too. Also some of you may be aware splodgeAway could quite possibly coming to a certain crafting TV channel!!!!!! so I've been doing a little behind the scenes work making card samples, of course i can't show those on my blog so whilst my blog has been quiet i have been the very opposite. 

Today i had an earlier than expected finish from work so i took the mammoth task of tidying my craft area, Boy that was some task and it took a while, but on the plus side because it was all tidy it made me want to craft, as its my mam and dads anniversary tomorrow i thought id better get a start and make their card. 

I used some gorgeous websters pages and lots of matting and layering later i produced this lovely card.

Because the papers are so beautiful you don't need much else to create a gorgeous card in no time, the only other thing I've used id a little lace, bazzill cardstock, liquid pearls, heart pearls and stickles. 

Humbled

I know I've harped on so much about my local craft shop Suzicraft, but I have good reason too. You will not meet two nicer people they go out of their way for you and not just because it means money in the till they genuinely do care for their customers every need, whether your a customer old or new when you walk in the door they offer you a drink, they will order special items and they have the best prices around. They have come a long way since they started trading as a market stall many years ago, they were there in all weather, now they have the bricks and mortar shop they deserve.  They have been open 7 months and they are going from strength to strength. They offer regular classes and craft days, they have invented an innovative new product which will be big (watch this space) the design team for said product has been put together so we will be going live soon. Im grateful to be on the design team and honoured to be given the opportunity to teach some upcoming classes at the shop, they've given me so much encouragement and support, I am humbled by them and their commitment to the business, customers and friends. Ive used SplodgeAway easy ink card and used a brayer and assorted foam applicators for the background, the stamps are a mix of stampin up (trees) and the flowers, butterflies and birds are inkadinkadoo. The sentiment is personal impressions.

Crafty Coffee Morning

Im sorry for the lack of posts over the last couple of days, i have been crafting away but it was on secret design work so i cannot share it yet. I will have things to share tonight as Im going to Suzicraft today to join in the fortnightly crafty coffee morning,
Lots of ladies and gents get together and craft away sharing ideas, have a laugh, eat cake drink coffee and generally have a great time. The cost is 5.00 and that includes all materials, use of tools, stamps etc and endless tea and coffee and there is always some cake about, but none for me i started my slimming world journey again on Tuesday, 2 years ago i lost 3 stone and was at a perfect size for me i was happy and confident but i stopped going and its all gone back on so i want to be back to where i was happiest.
Im sure ill get a couple of cards done today (laughing and giggling permitting, that Susan is so naughty for distracting you) so i will be back tonight to show you my makes.

new lili of the valley

Im so excited i received my new lili of the valley stamps today, i was at work 7 till 12 and waiting in my craft was was an envelope of loveliness, i got one of the new releases and few of the older ones plus a set of sentiments. i couldn't wait to ink them up.

I used "Happy Together" and made a 6 x6 card in no time ive been making a lot of 8 x8 so this seemed to be finished in half the time.
I coloured the image in with promarkers the background was created using a combo of promarkers and ink pads, the clouds were done using a scalloped template., i then matted it on textured pearlescent card, available from suzicraft, the background papers are from October afternoon and making memories, ive used wild orchid flowers ribbon, pins and a cameo cabochon for embellishments. the sentiment is also lili of the valley. all the layers are finished of with a sparkle of stickles. m entering this card into Lili's little fairies challenge - anything goes

Im off to the hospital shortly so will probably craft some more when i get back to occupy my mind.

lots of sparkle

I had a request for a large easel christening card, with only one days notice so i used my trusty LOTV image as i didnt have time to search through stamps for an alternative image. i worked on it until almost 11.00pm (and i had an early start at work the next morning) but it was all worth it when i was well received, i took the photos last night when i had finished as i didnt have time to wait until daylight, you always get a better sparkle at night but lots of shadows, during the day you get a crisp image but loose the sparkle. The picture was taken on the iPhone so its captured the sparkle but the image isnt as good quality as i prefer.

The papers are by first edition and have been distressed with walnut stain then edged in gold stickles, the image was coloured with distress inks, i will link it with some challenges when ive had a browse to see where it will fit.

Im not sure ill have a card for to show you tomorrow as ive got an early start again in the morning so i may have an early night so that means no crafting :(

Next week there are some new release stamps at Lili of the valley so i had better save some of my pennies so i dont miss out on them

I think im now on a roll with my magnolias, its like buses none for ages then they all come at once!

Coloured with distress inks using the new splodge away mat, every layer has been stickled and edges distressed with walnut stain, apart from the bazzill the only patterned paper ive used is a cloud one by WMK. the mesh is again from the pack mentioned in Saturdays post (from suzicraft) all the embellishments are cut from the cricut dress up dolls cartridge.

crafty afternoon

Today i was working a short early shift at work 7 till 11 so when i came home i had my cuppa, some lunch and quick chat with martin before he went and got some shut eye (he works nights). I then had the whole afternoon to craft as i didn't even have to go and pick up sam from school.

I decided to make an easel card using a magnolia image tilda with parasol, ive coloured her with a mix of promarkers and distress inks ive also edged everything in a mix of brushed corduroy, tattered rose and walnut stain flowers and also prima chiffon flowers, the centre of the flower is actually a snowflake button from dress it up, the leaves, corners and butterfly were cut on the cricut, the greeting wqs generated on the computer and everything is edged with a sparkle of stickles. Im going to enter tis card in the following challenges

Im going to visit my local craft shop tomorrow (suzicraft) as ive got the whole day off to get crafty, i shall be a happy bunny :)

Inky fingers

I got out my new splodge away mat (contact suzicraft for details or to purchase) distressing inks and mica powders to create this card and now hence the title i have inky fingers. ive distressed the card within an inch of its life using a mix of tumbled glass, forest moss, mustard seed, barn, door, walnut stain, pumice stone and spiced marmalade, then mixed my mica powder in a spray bottle with water and spritzed the card, the over stamped it with a selection of Tim Holtz urban grunge collection and TPC studio classic icons,. The love and listen to your heart was inked with an embossing pad and embossed with WOW embossing powder in opaque white. The flower was punched with 3 different sized circles then inked spritzed and scrunched.
Ive washed my hands several times, went in the bath last night, showered this morning and there is still ink on my fingers, I really hope my hands will come clean before i go to work this afternoon.

Sometimes less is more

After making many large fancy cards i decided to have a small break and go down the less is more route. I purchased a lovely paper pad whilst shopping at suzicrafts, its by first edition and is called Spring Drop, the spring colours are gorgeous and really brighten up a dull day. I dug out some pearlescent cardstock and made some DL sized card blanks, for the first card i used ultra sticky doule sided tape (you know the type, the red one) i placed 3 strips along the bottom of the card and sprinkled with doodlebug sugar coating glitter then i made 3 paper flowers from the spring drop paer pad the large one is from a 3" circle and the smaller 2 from a 2" circle. The paper flowers have been going around for a couple of years now and are so easy to make, so when you dont have that perfect matching flower in your stash just make your own, simply cut the circle into a spiral and then roll it up.
The second card ive layered one of the double sided papers on top of each other and used one of the stickers that come with the papers, stamped it with happy birthday then layed it and adhered it with 3d foam again the flowers were done in matching papers.
I know i will be using these papers a lot more as they are gorgeous.

I had a good play on the splodge away mat last night and first impressions are WOW. I managed to finish the card i need for a young mans 21st, there was no better image to use than a kenny k digital download, as always ive coloured with promarkers, the background paper is WRMK ive scored the metallic card candy to make it look like a screw head lots of distressing and stickles. I find mens cards are so difficult to make but i think thats just cos all my stash is girlie stuff, but i think i managed to pull it off, i hope the recipient likes it
