It's a hot one

Wow the weather is amazing at the moment. Yesterday it was my eldest sons birthday he was 17 we had a lovely day in the garden in the scorching sun with a BBQ and then family celebrations in the evening. It was great having family round and having all the cousins together, it was also a bonus martin was off so he cooked on the BBQ, we are all a little red today though i swear the sun swerves around my legs as they are whiter than a pink of milk.

Andrea brought around a couple of card orders for me so early this morning i made a start on them, this one is for a little girls 1st birthday. the image is LOTV coloured with promarkers and the pages are a mix of websters and graphic 45 the flowers are wild orchid crafts and the lace is from my local haberdashery. ill not blog for too long as i have more cards to make,  in between popping out in the sunshine.

Citrus

I got the new limited edition tim holtz spring distress inks and I'm in love with them I used them last night to create this card.

The background is inked with squeezed lemonade then randomly stamped with a stamp using peacock feathers and also edged with the same ink. For the foreground again I inked up some splodgeAway easy ink card in squeezed lemonade, then using a crafty individuals stamp I carefully inked using peacock feathers trying to avoid the butterlies as i wanted them inked with shaded lilac, i just about managed it. I then used a distress picket fence pen to highlight the butterflies and flowers then coated them in a mix of glossy accents and stickles. I used bazzill to matt and distressed the edges. i couldnt fint the right shade ribbon so i inked a white organza one.I'm loving the citrus colours and i know i will use these till they run out.

Red, White & Blue

So Yesterday i went to suzicraft to do a little crafting with fellow design team members, i picked up a couple of new masks to do some behind the scenes work ready for the appearance on create & craft. Whilst there i saw a lovely london collage stamp by crafty individuals, and thought id get on the patriotic band wagon, after all i had some lovely red white & blue papers so i got  to work and created this little celebration card.
The papers were all freebies from a magazine, crafty individuals stamp, walnut stain and silver stickles edged all the card, the image was coloured with promarkers then higlighted with stickles.
Im entering this into the following challenges

When i came home i had a lovely parcel of goodies waiting for me, some more websters pages and
graphic 45 little darlings, so im sure youll be seeing creations made with them soon.

Sunday Picnic

Again im using websters pages combo pack of Sunday picnic and Everyday poetry, the papers are so lush i know i will be using every last scrap of them. Because the papers are so detailed it doesn't take an awful lot more to make a lovely card, i needed some more general cards to top up a basket i have at my cousins work place, they always go so fast.
I stamped the 2 flowers in cocoa ink on craft card and then used a Tim holtz marker in picket fence to do the white dots, i then used stickles over the top to give it a little sparkle, The card blank also had the same flower randomly stamped in first and second generation ink, i then simply distressed and layered a few of the papers and added stickles to some of the flowers and the edges, added a ribbon and that's a lovely card completed in no time. i can see me do lots of different versions of this to fill up the basket quickly as sometimes the go faster than i can make them.

Im off to suzicraft today for a crafting session with a couple of friends, good job im not a work for a while as im sure ill come home with really inky fingers.

Anyone for a handbag?

I was asked to make a card and the only criteria was to include a handbag, i came up with this:

The papers ive used all all websters Sunday picnic and everyday poetry, im loving these! Every has been edged in tattered rose distress inks using my trusty SplodgeAway mat. Ive stamped swirly flourishes in tattered rose too on the bag, stardust stickles were added as were ribbons for the handles and some bling brads. The sentiment was stamped and the ovals were cut on the cricut.

Full of hot air

Hello bloggers, later tonight i will be back with a new post from splodgeAway, but for now i will fill you on on whats been happening at La La Land (aka my life)
I went to a class at Suzicrafts on Saturday we were playing around with masks and sprays making a lovely inky mess it was fun,  of course i never come home empty handed i bought a few bits and bobs and then I  went into town to do a little shopping i didnt buy much other than a few trims and  ribbons, i returned home with a headache, so thought id chill on the sofa with a blanket and have 40 winks to sleep off the headache.

I went into my craft area to put my goodies away and noticed a parcel ....Yey it was my order from papermaze, that meant lush new papers from websters and more bazzill. i tore it open and amazingly my headache was gone. The papers were so gorgeous they inspired me to make a card with them straight away. i came up with the hot air balloon card, i downloaded the image from the net , vintage vectors, i then clear embossed it in parts and inked it using the splodgeAway mat which you can purchase from http://www.splodgeaway.com/ all the papers are websters, i finished it off with a ribbon and a few pins, and off course stickles.

This is the card we made at the class.

A Quickie

A quick post from me tonight, a couple of hours ago my brother in law messaged to ask me could i make him a card for in the morning, im not one to say no, so i jumped on the case and came up with this lovely creation. Ill apologise in advance for the poor picture but as its leaving me before i get decent lighting this is the best i could mange.
The image is LOTV coloured with promarkers, the papers are a mixture of pink paislee and a free set from a magazine, ive distressed all edges with a distressing tool and tattered rose distress inks. The butterflies are cut from the cricut give a hoot cartridge. Everything has been edged in stickles.
Straight to bed for me now as im at a craft class at suzicraft early ion the morning.

Lili of the valley christening

I love the soft colours of this card, i know im biased because ive made it, but they are so soft,  even the blending of the distress inks on the image are very subtle. That is all possible because of the amazing new SplodgeAway mat available from Suzicraft.
The gorgeous image is a Lili of the valley which i have coloured with promarkers, and given a sublte highlight with stardust stickles, if you look very closely you will see ive added a dotty shadow outline to the image just to give it a little more interest, the pearl trim around the image is from my stash box, the flowers and bias binding are all from wild orchid crafts. the papers are from suzicraft. The sentiment is a computer generated one.
Im entering this card into the following challenges:
Wild orchid challenge - anything goes
Lili's little fairies - favourite craft tool, mine is my paper trimmer i cant make a card with out it.
i love promarkers - anything goes

Im so busy making up samples ready for the demo day im doing at suzicraft on the 9th June so not a lot to share with you at the minute, but keep checking back as i will soon be adding some blog candy x

Commission on canvas

i was asked if i could make a set of wall art using photos, the lady supplied 3 photos of her family and wanted something different than just having them in a frame on her wall, so i done a little magic and turned them into a canvas wall hanging, i took 3 9 x9 canvas and scrapped the photos, to say my customer was pleased is an understatement, ive already got an order for another set.
All the papers ive used are My Minds Eye, ive used various embellishments from Tim holtz, making memories and queen and company.
If your wondering why the faces are blanked out thats because im sure my customer doesn't want her family's faces plastered on the Internet.

Ive got my slimming world class tonight so fingers crossed for a good weigh in.
Ive got a christening card to make for the weekend, and a couple of birthday cards so fingers crossed i will make a start on them tonight.

New SplodgeAway blog

So the time has finally come after many months behind the scenes the SplodgeAway blog has gone live be sure to pop over and check it out, in the coming weeks and months there will be tutorials, challenges, giveaways we already have guest designers lined up so what are you waiting for!
Here is my first design work for splodge away

I wanted to make an impact for my first card as part of the Splodge Away design team, so what better way than a 3D circle card using a lovely Tilda image.

I cut out 7 circles of splodge Away elegance card on my cricut and then used a nestie to cut the inner circle on 5 of them, I then used my splodge Away mat to blend sail boat blue Adirondack ink on all but one of the circles , the card takes the ink perfectly and with the help of the splodge Away mat you can’t fail to get a good result. I coloured my image with promarkers and between each sandwiched layer of circles I added an element layer one was the sponged cloud and grass background, layer 2 was the tree, layer 3 was the clouds in the sky and finally the fourth layer is Tilda. On the outer layer I sandwiched acetate in between 2 of the circles, so that the cover was see thru. I then made a card hinge to join the outer cover to the front. I then added the lovely flowers to the front to frame the focal point, and then last but not least I added a dusting of diamond stickles, as I do with all of my cards. I hope you like my first card and get some inspiration from it. Thanks for joining us on the splodge Away blog.
Im also entering this card in the following challenges:
cupcake inspirations - ive taken inspiration from the colours
Stampin' for the weekend - layers

Sniffles

For the last couple of days ive been feeling out of sorts and have got the sniffles, but that wont stop me crafting, ive got my tissues at hand.
ive got a card to share with you today that i made for a gorgeous little boy Dylan. Dylan is my cousins son,  i used to child mind him from being 3 months old to 3 years old now he is 4! where has the time gone.
ive used more than one image i by woodware, and have used a mask to blend them together to create the scene. They were then coloured with distress ink, then i used  a splodgeAway mat to distress the background and all edges of card and paper. The papers are My Mind Eye, a piece of ribbon and stickles finish the card beautifully.

I am doing a couple of cardmaking classes at suzicrafts shop on 30th May so those local may want to come along and have some fun, here is a sneak peak of one of the cards we are making in the first class.  Im also doing a demo day on 9th June i will  be using lots of new products so please drop by and say Hi, but please dont hold me responsible for the amount of money you may spend LOL!

Hopefully later this evening i will have some exciting news as all being well the new SplodgeAway blog should be going live.

Brayer class

The class I went to on Wednesday was fun, i brushed up on my Brayer skills, played with lovely stamps and had lovely company. You now can be sure you'll be seeing lots more brayered backgrounds. We made a complete card and backgrounds for many more, but you know me I came home and jazzed mine up with stickles (the blue/green one) Then I made another when I got home using some of the backgrounds, the plum/blue coloured one has a clarity stamp as the background and a crafty individuals bird and inkadinkadoo butterfly stamp in the foreground.
I am going to be busy the next couple of weeks with design work for splodgeaway and prep work for a couple of classes and a demo day I am doing at suzicrafts, how will I fit in cards for my blog and fit in my day job!

Yippeeeeee!

What a happy girl i am, i had my first weigh in last night and im so happy to report that ive lost 4lbs, i couldnt be any happier, start as you mean to go on and all that! hopefully that will be the first loss of many to come, and i will back to where i like to be best.

Onto a crafty note, when i arrived home from work today i had a package waiting for me they were my art impressions stamps, ive wanted them for an age but something else always emptied my craft purse before i got them. so anyway i decided it was time to give in and buy them.

I had an hour to spare before i was heading out of the door to take a brayer class, and this was the card or should i say picture card i came up with. Its not your ordinary folding card it has a stand up frame on the back so it stands like a photo frame.
I stamped and masked the plantpot first then added the gate before adding lots of foliage to finish the scene, i then coloured with distress inks and adirondack. I used my scalloped edge to create the cloud background, then i matted all the layers and edged in stickles.

The class i went to tonight taken by Annette Lees was fun, i brushed up on some brayering and stamping techniques and created some lovely pieces i will share those tomorrow when the lighting is better for photos.

Quick makes - Contempary Pinwheels

Argghhhhhh! this is the third time ive tried to upload this  to blogger, the gremlins must be about.
Yesterday i had 20 minutes before i went to work and had an urge to make a card, i know i didnt have time to make a special over embellished card they take me anywhere from one to several hours, i needed something quick, si i came up with these pinwheel cards, 2 in just 20 minutes. Ive used spring drop papers, a little matting and layering, liquid pearls and stickles.

Tonight im off to slimming world in the hope of a loss of a couple of pounds, then ive got a really early start at work in the morning, in the evening im participating in a brayer class at Suzicrafts so i very much doubt i will have any thing to share with you unless i get a real urge again to make a quick card, i know they dont take much thinking about but at least i get my paper craft fix, any other crafter will understand, non crafters will be ready to admit me to the addiction clinic. LOL!

Traditional

Yum! Yum! im writing my blog right now and im absolutely stuffed, i just tucked into a traditional Sunday roast, ive been sticking to my slimming world menu all week and even my dinner today was very little syns. I would normally have breakfast and then pick and snack all morning then come lunch time i hardly touch my dinner because im too full from all the snacks, but not today, no snacks passed my lips so maybe thats why i totally enjoyed it and im full up too. I happy to knowing it was mostly syn free and the scales should be happy on Tuesday.

Another traditional are the cards i made last night, i was asked for 2 cards for older more traditional gents, no over the top embellishments, more plain (i know plain, i do plain, but id rather do over the top. Lol)
I unwrapped the set of free stamps that were with the current creative stamper magazine, and inked up the motorbike, but not before id brayered my background on splodgeaway easy ink card, i stamped the image in versafine and added glossy accents and stickles, lots of matting and layering on bazill card stock.

This card has the exact same image but ive also added some patterned paper by Jillybean soup, and the crest saying dad has been covered in glossy accents. The greeting stamp was also from the free set. The ribbon on both cards is by we are memory keepers.

Humbled

I know I've harped on so much about my local craft shop Suzicraft, but I have good reason too. You will not meet two nicer people they go out of their way for you and not just because it means money in the till they genuinely do care for their customers every need, whether your a customer old or new when you walk in the door they offer you a drink, they will order special items and they have the best prices around. They have come a long way since they started trading as a market stall many years ago, they were there in all weather, now they have the bricks and mortar shop they deserve.  They have been open 7 months and they are going from strength to strength. They offer regular classes and craft days, they have invented an innovative new product which will be big (watch this space) the design team for said product has been put together so we will be going live soon. Im grateful to be on the design team and honoured to be given the opportunity to teach some upcoming classes at the shop, they've given me so much encouragement and support, I am humbled by them and their commitment to the business, customers and friends. Thank you Susan and Tom this card is for you
Ive used SplodgeAway easy ink card and used a brayer and assorted foam applicators for the background, the stamps are a mix of stampin up (trees) and the flowers, butterflies and birds are inkadinkadoo. The sentiment is personal impressions.
